Your metered bill

With a water meter, we send you a bill every six months for the water you have used. We calculate your bill based on meter readings.

What do I pay for?

You'll see the following services on your bill:

  • Water charges: covers the cost of treating and supplying you with clean, clear, great tasting tap water.
  • Sewerage charges: covers the cost of removing, treating and disposing of waste from your home safely. You pay for the water you use, measured in cubic meters. Your sewerage charges are provided by Thames Water or Anglian Water and these charges are included on your bill.
  • Fixed charges: covers the cost of maintaining and reading your meter.

How much do I pay?

We work out how much you need to pay based on the meter readings taken at the start and end of the billing period.

We charge for each cubic meter of water you use. One cubic meter is the same as 1,000 litres. Every 1,000 litres is the same as 140 toilet flushes or 30 showers.

What is an estimated bill?

If we can't get a reading, you'll receive an estimated bill based on your previous usage. Giving regular meter readings is the best way to make sure your bill is accurate.

It's easy to give us a meter reading, you can do this in three ways:

Why is my account in credit?

If you pay monthly, you may notice a credit on your online account between bills. This helps you budget by building a credit balance, so when your bill is due, you have enough money to cover it.

This is the easiest way to manage your bill, so you don't need to worry about paying the full amount all at once.

Of course, if you change your mind and prefer to pay your bill in full every six months, you can request a refund.  If you want to talk to us about a refund and your payment options, please contact us.
